Winning again!

Just a quick post to say that the Torquay crew were all after my guts in the Friday night re-buy tournament.

After announcing that I had found a new technique and I tried it last week with optimum success, everyone wanted to exterminate ‘The Chief’.

With over 50 runners, the pressure was on. But, the final table consisted of Dave ‘The Dish’ Milby, another Dave, Scotty and myself. Dave was unlucky when he went all-in with A, Q and I looked down on pocket Aces. Shortly after knoking Dave out I found myself heads-up with Scott. We both had so much respect for each other that we were heads-up for nearly an hour.

Finally Scott was all-in due to a low stack and I had pocket kings. Needless to say I was fortunate enough to pull through and win, collecting a whopping £830 prize money and a free seat into the monthly £100 tournament on the first of the month.

Thanks to everyone and I look forward to winning the next one to keep my streak going.

Shuffle Up & Deal – WSOP Main Event, Day 3

indianWelcomeDay three is here and I am currently 50th in a field of 2,000 runners. Initially there were 6,494 entries into the main event and I am in good shape.

I am feeling confident due to all the warm support I have been receiving from everyone, but I got hardly any sleep last night as our car blew up yesterday.

Anyway, I don’t think I will be on tilt and have set my goals for today.

Remember that you can find live updates of chip counts by clicking here: Live Updates (My exact chip count for the start of today is: $126,700 and play, once again, resumes at noon (8pm UK Time)

Good luck to everyone in the Mint casino in Torquay tonight as that is my local casino in the UK where they will be holding their Friday night bonanza. (Unless Nick and Matt have changed the schedule yet again) :)

Hereford vs Torquay – BRING IT ON!

Hereford-vs-TorquayHere is a great comment from Adrian from Hereford which just have to have it’s own posting. It is aimed at my Ron (my dad) but I feel it may lead to a minibus to either Hereford or Devon.

Beating everyone in Hereford my arse! Well you didn’t need to fly that far to get out in the first round it sounds like a normal week in the Rosie!

Anyway I am now compelled to tell everyone the waiting time you have had recently and the rubbish way you played Aces against me first hand the week before you left. First hand first game and there are not many people who can claim only to be dealt 2 cards in over 2 hours.

That’s enough for now I wont tell everybody about the 9’s in your hand disguising themselves as a flop that’s for another time so pipe down Ron or your secrets will be out.

On a serious note Andrew we ought to organise a Torquay versus Hereford match. I’ve heard the Torquay boys haven’t got of the 2nd chapter yet but I suppose we would be happy to transfer some of Torquay’s economy to Hereford!

Have fun look forward to hearing the stories when you are back.

Adrian

Well done for the grat comment Adrian!

Torquay Comments – So Funny!

smileyGuys, calm down – calm down.

If anyone needs a laugh just have a look at at the comments made by the guys in Torquay. Torquay Comments. This means war! We need to arrange a game between myself, Bob and Mike Cummings to settle this.

As for the 2,000,000 loan Bob I will definitely pay you this even if I don’t win. I trust you accept Zimbabwean dollars?

Anyway, off to qualify for the main event today. All the best from freezing Las Vegas. (My pool temperature is 31 degrees and the main temp is expected to be 46 today). :)

Thanks to the Torquay players and staff for your support!

Off to Vegas on Tuesday and will be entering at least 12 WSOP events. You can keep track of everything right here, as and when it happens. Naturally I will be wearing my MASSIVE head-dress. That is my new trademark on the world events.

This is just a short note to say a BIG thank you to all the Torquay guys and gals that are being so supportive and reading my blog.

I am wondering why I am going as I haven’t won anything in Torquay for a while. Fortunately, I seem to do a little better in bigger events.

I also want to thank Nick and Matthew for their support and for particularly running great tournaments themselves, although I would love to actually know when you cancel a prearranged poker night.

Any comments are welcome; just read the post you want to comment on and click where it says ‘post comment’. I promise to try to approve your comment any time either me or my friend (butler) get near a computer.

Regards, LittleBigCard :)

Unlucky Nick!

Some more Torquay news for you.

Here is a direct report from our lovable card-room manager – Nick.

‘Since Sept2007, casino employees have been allowed to frequent other casino’s in the UK.

I’ve been limited to the odd forray in to plymouth with fair success, so it was time to have a shot at a uk festival that also coincided with some time off.

Broadway Festival in Birmingham. Sunday 20th July. £100 Freeze-out, 127 runners.
£5000 to winner, £2500 to 2nd. etc

Got in the zone early slow playing quads into someone’s full-house, they thought they were trapping me..

The key seemed to be hitting a powerful hand and getting paid. LNP pro Peter Evans was doing the same, held an early monster stack,
and did so all the way to the final table.

Down to bubble, “anything for 11th?” where have i heard that before? No said Peter evans.

I reached FT with 19k, ave chips 44k, blinds were 800/1600. So i felt ok, though mustn’t get too short. I got my double up with KK’s v 77’s, then polished of the same player with JJ’s v AKx, 50/50 have got to get through at this stage.

Couple of players were duly crushed by Peter Evans monster stack. Down to four, made a brave play against a similar stack as mine, he folded his pocket 10’s, 3 hearts on flop, one an ace, to my re-raise all in..(only Kh working for me).

Finished him off with AKx. Then soon after took out the next player with quad 6’s…

Heads up with Peter Evans! Now he’s talking a deal..quick chip count 240/220 in his favour.
I’ll take £4k and trophy suggests Peter Evans…hmmm let me think..politely decline.

Half a dozen hands a few small exchanges, he quickly realised it’s not gonna be easy.

Final: Blinds 5k/10k, Evans 20k ahead in chips, raises to 50k on button, I look down A3x, heads up good image, there’s only 1 move, I’m all-in. ” oh well, gotta gamble some time,
call” He flips over J10x!

This is it, he’s got me covered by 20k, ONE TIME!… xxxxJ aaagh! £2500 card.

I didn’t wreck the joint, just shook his hand and wished him well.’

Mike wins again!

Well done to Mike Cummings yet again for winning the weekly poker tournament.

Mike won heads up against Pete Griffiths and took home a stupendous £1,000 for his efforts.

Mike thinks he is progressing at an alarming rate and wants to give the World Series a shot next year.

Mike, we all agree you are a GREAT player, but the reason you won this week is because Dave, Al, Luke, Scottie and Ice aren’t there. If we were you know you would have been knocked out before the re-buy period ended. Only joking!

Well done again and thank you for keeping us informed as to what is happening in the UK Mike.

Torquay Guys Here!

torquay_guys.jpg

Finally the crew are here.

Met with Dave, Scott and Tom tonight in the Wynn casino. They seem to be loving it.

Just waiting for Scotty, Al and Luke now to have a regular Friday night game, except this time it will be in the Bellagio or something.

I start my main event campaign on Saturday and Dave begins on Sunday.

By the way, the temperature is set to hit 48c on Saturday. Hope all is well in cool England – HA HA!

Mike Cummings (snr) cashed in the gala Bristol tour main event.

Mike Cummings; doing what he does best – playing in large tournaments

How the other half live!

Mike Cummings (snr) cashed in the gala Bristol tour main event and came 16th winning him a total of £1350.  He’s now becoming a bit of a dab hand at these deepstack events.

I believe that it won’t e long before we see Mike traveling to Vegas to take on the big boys.

Well done Mike!

Quite a few Torquay players attended and poor old Scott Henry was only 4 spots off the money.

More information maybe found here.

Dave Milby’s Amazing Success

Dave Milby, 30 who is a regular player in Torquay’s Mint casino is having a fantastic run at the moment and all indications point to him doing tremendously well on the world’s biggest stage in the WSOP in Las Vegas at the beginning of July. Any progress reports will be noted here and you can chat directly with Dave on a daily basis.

Dave is already a 2 time league winner in Torquay and is all set to enjoy an amazing 2008.

Not only has he won a Betfair package for the WSOPE in September, he completed the double recently by winning a WSOP Vegas package as well…He’ll be staying at the Wynn for 2 weeks, flights paid with spending money.

Sounds like Torquay will be taking Vegas by storm!

A big thanks to Nick – Torquay’s Cardroom Manager, for his comments and support for Dave and the whole Torquay mob!
