Aces Back-to-Back

acesEntered a satellite tournament yesterday and soon became high stacked with chips as a result of good judgment, player analysis and solid play.

This was my last opportunity to get a free entry into the main event.

Then all my dreams came true. I look down at pocket aces and a guy shoved all in pre-flop. Things fold round to me and I called. He had my nemosis hand J,J. Guess what, a Jack came on the turn – Arghh!

All was not lost though as I simply doubled up his stack and I was still way above chipe average. Two hands later I was dealt Ace, Ace AGAIN! Wow, time to get my revenge. The same guy raised and to avoid a repeat of what happened before I pushed all in to knock him off.

He said these precise words, ‘ You seem like a really nice guy and I think I ought to give you a shot at getting your money back.’ He called and showed 8, 4 off suit!

GREAT – Even after the flop came 7, 10, 8 rainbow I had no worries.

acesThen the turn card came 4 – ARRRGGHHH! In about 4 hands I went from being the chip leader on our table to going out. Now I now how Al Vinnicombe felt after having his aces cracked 9 times in a row.

Anyway, my main event campaign starts on Sunday, and although I realise that anything can happen, I truly believe it is time that my fortune turns the other way. In my humble opinion I have not put a foot wrong for the past three weeks and am now looking forward to THE BIG ONE.

Will keep you posted from Sunday onwards.

Hereford vs Torquay – BRING IT ON!

Hereford-vs-TorquayHere is a great comment from Adrian from Hereford which just have to have it’s own posting. It is aimed at my Ron (my dad) but I feel it may lead to a minibus to either Hereford or Devon.

Beating everyone in Hereford my arse! Well you didn’t need to fly that far to get out in the first round it sounds like a normal week in the Rosie!

Anyway I am now compelled to tell everyone the waiting time you have had recently and the rubbish way you played Aces against me first hand the week before you left. First hand first game and there are not many people who can claim only to be dealt 2 cards in over 2 hours.

That’s enough for now I wont tell everybody about the 9’s in your hand disguising themselves as a flop that’s for another time so pipe down Ron or your secrets will be out.

On a serious note Andrew we ought to organise a Torquay versus Hereford match. I’ve heard the Torquay boys haven’t got of the 2nd chapter yet but I suppose we would be happy to transfer some of Torquay’s economy to Hereford!

Have fun look forward to hearing the stories when you are back.

Adrian

Well done for the grat comment Adrian!

Torquay Comments – So Funny!

smileyGuys, calm down – calm down.

If anyone needs a laugh just have a look at at the comments made by the guys in Torquay. Torquay Comments. This means war! We need to arrange a game between myself, Bob and Mike Cummings to settle this.

As for the 2,000,000 loan Bob I will definitely pay you this even if I don’t win. I trust you accept Zimbabwean dollars?

Anyway, off to qualify for the main event today. All the best from freezing Las Vegas. (My pool temperature is 31 degrees and the main temp is expected to be 46 today). :)

Update

familyToday was great!

I have taken a leaf out of Bob Golding’s ‘School of Poker’, advice line.

(See Bob’s  comments and advice at Bob’s Comment). Naturally I and ignored everything he said and did much better than usual.

Ok, I got knocked out with suited Ace, Queen at the end of the day but I out-lasted and did better than 1,670 entrants. If I hadn’t made a move then I would have risked being blinded out; so it was definitely the right thing to do, especially as 6 other players had entered the pot – giving me superb pot odds.

Only had the one bad-beat early in the tournament but as I had already doubled up I was not in any risk of being knocked out. The really weird thing though was that I had pocket Queens against Pocket Jacks and the exact same thing happened as it did the other day. I hit top trips on the flop and raised. The guy re-raised all in so I called. At this point I am 92% favourite.

He then stated walking and had to be called back from the car park as het made a flush with runner, runner spades. Just like Saturday. Freaky… See hand below.

Thumbs up for Tomorrow!

sophiaAll positive thinking again, especially after receiving support and encouragment from Ade, Alex, Tricky and Pete. Thank you all!

Andy is really looking forward to being in yet another tournament and is sure that another Bad Beat (I cannot say that word) will NOT happen.

LittleBigCard has the support of his family and, in particular, his daughter Sophia; although why she is wearing a cowboy hat when I am an indian is beyond me.

Anyway, the new campaign starts at noon on Monday (8pm UK time).

Thanks again boys, and keep those comments rolling in! :)

IronMan’s Campaign is Over

DadLossRon Fields has blown it!

He did ask that I remind you all that at least he lasted longer than me. (Thanks dad!).

Anyway. We all tried to decipher through the different versions as to why he lost and I believe he went all in on Ace, King unsuited.

Apparently it was not his fault as the guy ‘was a pratt’, and should never have called with pocket 4s. :(

Make your mind up yourselves and give him a good quizzing when he returns as he should have his story straight by then.

I am sure IronMan has learnt from this unfortunate experience and will try to qualify for the main event, so keep your cheery comments coming. If not for his sake – but for mine to make my life living with him slightly easier over the coming weeks.

Sick, Sick, Sick Bad-Beat AGAIN!

Bad-beat-againI am now just wondering what I have to do in order to win a main event in this damn place.

Things are so unfortunate for me I have even added a whole category called ‘Bad-Beats’. Everyone gets their fair share of bad-beats, but this is just insane. In the five tournaments I have entered in the World Series, I have had them take me out each time!

Today I was 1 hour and 36 minutes into the tournament when I looked down at Ace, Ace – Yippee!

I raised to about 4 times the big blind and a guy re-raises, so I have to put him on a strong hand pre-flop.

Flop comes, 9, 2, 8.

Obviously, having put him on a strong hand, I anticipated he must have something like Queen, Queen or King, King, or Ace, King or perhaps even aces too.

He raised all-in and I called. He showed Queens and started walking when he saw my pocket Aces.

The turn card was another 9 And the river was a QUEEN!

Still, at least dad is still in and I am hoping to report some more positive news on his behalf later.

More Comments PLEASE!

wsop_BraceletSometimes I think I am writing to myself. Where is all the support from Torquay. C’mon boys and girls, this blog is mainly for you guys and I have only heard from three of you. (Thanks to Ade, Alex and Mark). :)

Anyway, today we are playing for another WSOP bracelet as seen in the picture above. This is a three-day event and the estimated first prize is $1,000,000.

I will do the same as my dad for his supporters. I.e. If I win I shall wear my head-dress to all our local tournys and buy anyone who leave comments free drinks – FOR A YEAR!

To leave one, all you have to do is click on ‘comment’ under this post.

Andy is Finally Winning – BIG!

WinningEnough of Tinky-Winky for now!

LittleBigCard has hit the big time winning enough money to enter his dad and himself into Saturday’s main event – with some change left over.

Andy has accelerated his tournament tactics and everything seems to be paying off! He won a satellite today for $5,000 and a side bet for a separate $900.

He is secretly excited that the old man’s 70th birthday present hasn’t actually cost a bean now he is ahead.

Just a short note for all you Herefordians though. If you don’t leave dad a comment, he will definitely NOT buy you a drink or give you a share of his winnings. Also, if he gets a comment from ALL the regulars, he will wear the Teletubby outfit for a month in the weekly tournament at the Rose & Crown.

We may take a day off tomorrow as the Saturday tournament is expected to exceed 2,800 runners which means approximately 14 hours of solid poker play for 3 days running, and an estimated $1 million first prize.

We look forward to hearing from you…..

IronMan Delivers a Blow of His Own

IronMan2Iron man got up off the mat today in true fighting spirit. After his initial downfall, IronMan entered more satellites and managed to make a profit. Nothing to write home about you may think but bear in mind that his defeated opponents included several professionals and previous tournament winners.

Well done dad!

And he says I look stupid in an Indian outfit!….

IRON Man gets KO’d in his First Round!

IronMan1Big Chief Iron Man entered his first satellite today at the Rio to start his Worlds Series campaign.

Unfortunately he made the mistake of thinking that he was playing with his local mates in Hereford. ‘Although I beat them every week with ease – the World Series is a whole different ball-game’. Iron man was quoted as saying. He continued, ‘I just can’t seem to bluff these professionals’.

Despite having suffered his first blow Iron Man got up off the floor and entered another satellite, only to be bashed to pulp even more quickly than before.

Not to be deterred, Iron man is now looking forward to brushing up on his tactics and entering another tomorrow. Is it foolishness or wise words from the ‘Biggest Chief’? ‘ Find out here tomorrow for the latest updates…

Comments from the Hereford crew would be appreciated.

Chief IRON Man Arrives

ChiefIronManFor the past two weeks my play has been criticised by my dad – Chief IRON Man. This is despite that when I run all my hands through a poker calculator it was obvious I did the RIGHT thing at the right time.

Now it is time for chief Iron Man to show the way and win a tournament as it is ‘SO EASY’.

I must say however, that all the pros are really finding it tough this year as most of the players are young, inexperienced Internet qualifiers and are playing really risky poker. Most of the time this strategy will not work, but as the inexperienced outnumber the professionals by about 30-1 they only need the strategy to work once in order to knock a top player out.

I am sure that Chief Iron Man will find this out to his cost a little later on. (Or is he a jammy urchin himself?)

Watch this space for the results….

Bad Beats Continue

Only four hands into the tournament and I looked down at pocket queens. Great!

I raised pre-flop and another guy raised again. I then re-raised $1,000. He calls.

Preflop I am 81% favourite to win.

Anyway he told me he had Jacks and I raised all-in. He called and showed Jacks. The flop came 9D, 8S, 9S and there was no way I put the guy on a 9. I am now 86% favourite to win the hand. HORRAY I am finally going to double up at the beginning of a tournament.

The turn card came 4S and putting me at 77% favourite.

The river came 2S – GIVING THE GUY A FLUSH!

See the proof below…

Winning BIG in Las Vegas!

I am not sure what you expect to find under a title such as ‘Winning big in Las Vegas’ but this is what happened.

winning

As Little Big Card was dished out of the tournament yesterday, he and Darren decided to take a day off in the sun. By the way, the temperature in the pool is only 28 degrees C (Not to make you jealous or anything).

After a small relax and a game of bowling we decided to see the strip for the first time this trip.

Little Big Card put $20 into a slot maching and won $1,250. Wow!

He resumes play iun the World Series on Monday at noon…

Bad Beats Continue

JackBadBeatARRGGHHH!

Look at this bad baby!

Looking down at pocket queens and love it and a guy raised. He had been calling bets all day with rubbish, so I put him on a lowish pair or ace with a semi-kicker.

The flop came 9D, 8S, 7S

I quite liked this flop apart from the flush draw. So I decided to raise about 5 times the size of the blind. He pushed all in and I sat and thought about it.

My thoughts were as follows: If he has pocket 9s or a straight then he deseves to win, but there is no way I really thought he was beating my quens. I called and was delighted when he showed Jacks.

The guy’s face was a picture when he saw my queens and he started to leave the tabe. The turn card was a 4, but it was a spade giving hin the flush draw.

We both thought he had lost when the last card (2 Clubs) came out and he did walk away, until the dealer said the flush wins. I looked at my Queens and they were both red. HE HIT RUNNER, RUNNER CLUB to take the hand down. :(

Another Interesting Day for The Chief

Indian-ChiefToday Little Big Card had a free roll into the $2,000 event as he won the satellites yesterday. All started well as hell took the first three hands at the table. Then trouble raised its head.

LBC had trip 2s on the flop and a guy went all in with aces. Can you believe that the turn and river gave the other guy an Ace-5 Straight…

Anyway, from starting with 6,000 in chips LBC found he only had $600 left. He dug his heels in and worked hard for the next few hours managing to get his count up to $15,000. After 11 hours of solid hard play and concentration LBC found himself on the big blind with 8-Jack suited. Some crazy people were doing some crazy things and LBC wanted to take advantage. The blinds were beginning to dig into Andy’s stack and when the flop came Jack, 8, 7 he pushed all-in. Two players called and Andy was hoping to more than triple up. Unfortunately, a lady was sitting on trip 7s and the day was over. :(

Now I have to start again on another day.

AT LAST — A change of fortune!

Is this the start of something big?

Little Big Card went off to the Rio to enter a large event. However, when he got there, he realised he had the Wrong Day! What a twerp.

Not to worry. The next best thing Little Big Card could do was to enter some satellite tournaments in order to win chips for the larger events.

Little big Card won the first event and collected $1,120.00

The next event was slightly smaller, but Little Big Card won this event as well.

MEDIA INTEREST

Last night Little Big Card invested in a new addition to the Indian look. He bought a hand-made real Indian war jacket. Together with the head dress he looked (if I say so myself) awesome. Immediately Poker News picked up on the new kid on the block and interviewed him. This was then followed by a final table break and Bluff Poker magazine interviewed Little Big Card on TV.

The new look is working well and getting the desired effect. People are scared of the war paint and LBC is ready to scalp anyone who tries to take his chips.

The next big tournament starts tomorrow at noon Pacific time.

Keep those comments coming…

Ouch! Not a good day

Event 32 at the WSOP

LittleBigCard was playing early in the tournament and was dealt A,A, – Yippee!

A guy raises 1200 pre-flop and LittleBigCard raised again to 3000. The big blind then went all in and the other guy called. Naturally LittleBigCard called and showed A,A. The other guys were gutted because they showed the same hand each of King, 10. A great start you may think. Not so. The flop came 9, Jack, Queen! They both hit the nut straight and LBC was walking.

A little later LittleBigCard recomposed himself and entered a satellite tournament for the main event where two seats were up for grabs. Out of 67 entrants LittleBigCard was left with three other players and was 2nd chip leader when he was dealt K, K. LittleBigCard raised and the chip leader went all in. LBC considered his options and called.

The guy showed pocket Aces! LBC did not hit a king and was gone. A bad day for LBC which made him wonder if it is even worth going into the main event.
